Nancy’s husband has been a mail carrier for over 30 years, but when it comes to fabric, she’s the one who knows how to deliver.
Nancy has been with Osgood’s for six years and readily admits that “it’s my dream job. I call it my ‘retirement job’ since I love what I’m doing and want to do it until I retire, which is a long way down the road.”
As manager of the Dress Goods department, Nancy works with the apparel fabrics and quilting goods, helping customers read patterns, cutting yard goods and filling orders. She was a home economics teacher in Springfield for 11 years.
“I went to college to become a home ec teacher and have always had a keen interest in sewing and creative arts,” says Nancy. “After teaching, I started itching to get back to work. I really couldn’t see myself sitting in a cubicle all day because I’m very chatty and love meeting people. Working at Osgood’s is the perfect job for me.”
Not surprisingly, Nancy’s favorite thing about working at Osgood’s is teaching customers about fabrics and learning from her co-workers.
“We have a lot of really smart, talented people here and I love learning from them,” she explains. “Everyone here has a great work ethic and love to share what they know.”
